MANUFACTURED TO MINISTER SPECIFICATION NO1, CLAUSE 21.4 ORDINANCE No70.
FIRE RESISTANCE LEVEL -/60/-
FEATURES
One hour fire rated steel framed windows are available as fixedlights windows or as an operable horizontal offset pivot window. The number of panes (i.e. the design of the window) & overall frame size is determined by the above-mentioned specification (refer dwg & extract in further specifications). Maximum frame area is not to exceed 5.2 sq.m with a maximum size of 2950mm in either height or width.
The pivot window is mechanically operated. The pivot point is offset from center so as to counterweight the sash. The sash is held open (min. 30 deg.) by a cord attached to a fusible link & spring catch which is tied off to a rope cleat. When the fusible link reaches its release temperature, it separates allowing the sash to self-close & latch. Non-standard shapes are available i.e. circular, triangular, etc.
APLLICATIONS
One hour fire rated windows are used extensively on boundary walls of both commercial & residential buildings where adjoining buildings or pedestrian walk ways represent a fire hazard.
Other applications include, but not limited to, stairwells, fire escapes, light wells, internal fire rated partitions requiring vision panels, etc.
No insulation is provided by this window system. Refer to the Building Code of Australia for appropriate use and local regulation authorities for approval of the system in the specific application.
GLAZING
Glass type is 6mm thick Georgian Wired glass available in both clear & frosted, each having a 10mm square pattern fire wire running through the centre of the glass.
Glazing (generally internal) is retained by 10mm square solid steel beading screw fixed to the glazing perimeter.
HARDWARE
All necessary hardware is provided other than fixings. Hardware includes Steel Frame Windows Pty Ltd pivot hinge & fusible link, a steel spring catch & rope cleat.
FINISHES
One hour fire rated windows are required by specification to be hot dip galvanized & therefore do not require painting for corrosion prevention. However, their appearance is greatly enhanced by special polyurethane paint colours applied on site by appropriate contractors after installation is completed.
INSTALLATION
Generally frames are fixed to masonry openings, however fixing to suitable prepared fire rated openings of differing types can be achieved. Frames are fixed into suitable opening with all metal masonry anchors, where required special galvanized steel brackets are provided to suit either retro fitting into existing brickwork or building in as brickwork is erected.
