Austral Monsoon Building Products - Brisbane To match the forecast tonnage demands of mines and ports, Queensland Rail developed the $500 Million Dollar Jilalan Rail Yard Upgrade project. The Jilalan Rail Yard, located three kilometres south of Sarina near Mackay, is an important link in the Goonyella coal supply chain that moves coal from Central Queensland mines to the Port of Hay Point. The Yard is used by QR to maintain and service coal trains.
Austral Monsoon Building Products supplied AMF120 & AME60S, 200mm Ellipsoids & 300mm Ellipsoids to this project. AMBP have been involved in the upgrade over the past 4 years (since 2006), particular manufacture and installation work has been carried out on the Wagon Maintenance Sheds.

This 16,295 SQM development will consist of (45) Steel Roller Shutters ranging from 2.6M Wide x 3.8M High up to 9.5M Wide x 5.5M High. The new distribution facility will be the regional hub of Toll Ipecs Western Australian operations

Newcastle clenches its biggest order to date The Austral Monsoon Group’s Newcastle office secures the roller shutter contract to supply, deliver and install (73) roller shutter doors to the Energy Australia Stadium Western Grandstand Redevelopment located in Newcastle, NSW.
This $66m redevelopment of the Newcastle Knights home ground will consist of various types of roller shutter doors from the Austral Monsoon product range.
Austral Monsoon Industries - Brisbane
Thiess and John Holland have been awarded a contract by BrisConnections to deliver the Airport Link project in Brisbane, Queensland. The 4.1 Billion Dollar project is Australia's largest road infrastructure project set to cut congestion and fix one of Brisbane's most notorious bottlenecks. Austral Monsoons Industries part in the project is to deliver Steel Shutters at the Kalinga and Woolwooin sites
Austral Monsoon Building Products - Brisbane Corinda to Darra Rail Upgrade The Thiess United Group Joint Venture, as part of the Trackstar Alliance, have been awarded a contract by Queensland Rail to deliver the Corinda to Darra Rail Upgrade, which is one of four major rail infrastructure projects in south east Queensland.
The project is part of the South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan (SEQIP) Rail Alliance which was set up to ensure the delivery of planned rail infrastructure works for the region. As part of the project, Austral Monsoon Building Products are supplying and installing to Thiess United Group Joint Venture (Thiess Pty Ltd & United Group Infrastructure Pty Ltd) the AME50 Louvre Doors, AME100 and AME100HV Louvres as well as 300mm Ellipsoids to the Darra Train Station - Lift Towers and Storage buildings. The works is expected to be completed late June 2010
Austral Monsoon Industries - Brisbane Murgon Police Station and Watchhouse This project for the Department of Public Works by Sommer & Staff Constructions required the supply and installation of 5 steel shutters and 2 aluminium shutters. The new single story Police Station and Watchhouse was built on the existing site. The works includes a secure link between the new building and the existing Courthouse, complete with custody lift and a high level bridge incorporating a holding cell. Covered car parking and road works will complete the on-site works.
Industrial Door Engineering - Completes Fire Station Upgrades.
Industrial Door Engineering has completed the upgrade of the Appliance Bay automatic doors for the Cheshire Fire Service in the UK.
The £150,000 Contract involved either the complete renewal of the Appliance Bay Doors or alternatively, the upgrade of the automatic control systems. The programme of works commenced in Summer 2009 and was completed in February of 2010.
In total, 24 different fire stations throughout Cheshire County were worked upon. Some like the headquarters in Chester as shown in the attached photograph, were subject to a complete renewal program of doors complete with high speed motor units, LED traffic lights, photocell safety beams and auto-close photo-cells that instruct the doors to close immediately after the fire engine has left the building.
A range of different doors were supplied depending upon the style of buildings and their surroundings. Fully glazed sectionals, as at Chester, were installed at some sites. Standard sectionals or insulated roller shutters were installed at a number of other sites.
Ray Bassett of I.D.E. who co-ordinated the contract said ‘The Cheshire Fire Service are delighted with the upgrade that was carried out on schedule. The control equipment with the high speed motors and the sophisticated safety features is a vast improvement on what was originally fitted on the fire stations, and has helped significantly in the efficiency of the sites, particularly in emergency situations where the response time of the fire engines is critical.’
Cheshire Fire Service have a Service Contract with I.D.E. which means that all the Appliance Bay doors are regularly serviced and maintained to keep them up to the highest standard of operation
Lietzke Doors Australia - Adelaide Lietzke Doors Australia have won the contract to supply 790 pressed metal door frames to Hansen Yuncken for the South Australian PPP Super Schools projects. The project involves development of six new schools in the Playford North, Inner North and Inner West areas of metropolitan Adelaide.
Lietzke Doors Australia have started to manufacture the replacement prison cell doors for the Port Augusta Prison Green Bush Top accommodation unit. The project involves manufacture of 19 Level 1 security doors.

On December 22nd last year Cyclone Lawrence crossed over the Western Australian Pilbara Coast at Eighty Mile Beach reeking havoc and causing damage to buildings with very high winds. In some instances portable buildings were moved from their foundations and tipped up. One Lietzke customer however stated that the Lietzke Rebate Edge doors fitted to their portable buildings came through with flying colours, withstood the extreme conditions and still work perfectly.

Manufacturing and installing the Maxiflow Operable Louvres in a large number of State Schools in Queensland and Morisset High School in New South Wales.
Ambp have also been manufacturing the Stormglaze Operable Louvre for a number of projects including St. George State School in New South Wales, Hillbrook School and Fairhome College in Queensland.
In addition to School projects, AMBP have also been awarded a number of commercial projects such as Ellipsoid Sun Screen with Steel Outriggers for Volkswagen's showroom at Bayford, Victoria, Maxiflow Operable louvres for Mossman Drill Hall in New South Wales and Colmslie Aquatic Centre in Queensland. Two Stage Fixed Louvres and Ellipsoid Sun Shades for the Bus Interchange Darra in Queensland.
A particular project of note is that AMBP have been awarded the plant room louver package for the $60 Million Dollar Office Development at 123 Albert Street Brisbane. AMBP will be supplying the AME 100 Continuous Plant Room Louvers for the building to the head contractor, Laing O’Rourke.

Ansa Doors - Victoria
Ansa Doors Victoria have won the contract to manufacture the roller shutters. The winning contractor, AVC Contructions have awarded Ansa Doors the task of manufacturing and installing the 37 shutters, comprising of both factory units with some commercial shops for the Tullamarine Park Warehouse facilities.
AMI Sydney Along with John Holland and Joss Constructions joint venture Austral Monsoon Industries Sydney have won the roller shutter component of the $90 Million Kapooka Army Barracks expansion / upgrade which starts shortly. This contract entails the manufacture and installation of 21 new roller shutters to be installed on site. The project includes a variety of Steel, Aluminium roller shutters in the hand, electrically and chain operated configuration.
AMI Sydney With the growing activity in the construction industry, AW Edwards Constructions have successfully wont the tender for the $150 Million Chatswood Civic Place project. As part of that tender Austral Monsoon Industries were awarded the manufacture and installation of the new roller shutters. The project consists of 19 roller shutters which includes 2 hour fire rated, steel loading dock shutters, E84 aluminium shutters, E87 polycarbonate shutters and E85 aluminium roller shutters.
AMI Sydney AMI Sydney have now started work onsite for the Richard Crookes Constructions - Lake Illawarra Police Station. The upgrade are specifically designed to suit NSW Police Forces access requirements and involves the manufacture and installation of 8 roller shutters
AMI Newcastle The Newcastle division of Austral Monsoon Industries in conjunction with Adco Constructions have won the contract for Cardiff Market Place Woolworths. The $15 Million dollar project consts of both Aluminium roller shutters as well as Steel Shutters to the Woolworths specification.
This contract comes close after also having won a similar contract with Mainbrace Constructions for the Woolworths Morisset project valued at $13 Million dollars.
The New Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne The new Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne is a $1 billion redevelopment of the existing hospital and is the largest hospital redevelopment to be undertaken by the State of Victoria. Austral Monsoon Group Company Ansa Doors has successfully tendered and won the sectional overhead doors and roller shutter works for this redevelopment.

Austral Monsoon purchases Industrial Door Engineering Limited Austral Monsoon is pleased to announce the acquisition of Industrial Door Engineering Limited (IDE) based in Northwich, Cheshire, England on 12 November 2009.
IDE is a manufacturer of a comprehensive range of industrial roller shutter products including steel, insulated and fire resistant roller shutters. It installs the products that it manufactures and supplies and installs a large range of other industrial door products including sectional doors, high speed doors and pre-hung hinged metal door units.
IDE has a strong presence in the building and construction markets in north England and Wales. It also supplies roller shutter products to resellers in England, Scotland and Wales.
IDE provides 24 hour emergency repair services for roller shutters and all other types of industrial doors in the northwest England, north Wales and Yorkshire areas.
As well as its head office in Northwich it has sales, contracting and service operations in Ossett, Yorkshire.
Martin Burke, the General Manager of IDE, has been appointed as the head of Austral Monsoon operations in the UK. Effective immediatly Martin will oversea the Dover Vanguard Roller Shutters Limited (DVRS) business based on Oldham, England.
The acquisition provides direct synergistic benefits through manufacturing integration of IDE and DVRS operations. For example, DVRS roll-forms its own lath and guide tracks, manufactures its own hoods and has in-house powder coating paint line. IDE does not have these capabilities. Greater utilisation of this equipment will benefit both businesses.
The product lines of IDE and DVRS are similar but IDE is focused on industrial products whereas DVRS is lighter product and relate to commercial and truck door markets. Therefore, Austral Monsoon's product base in the UK has been greatly expanded through the acquisition.
IDE's employees have a strong roller shutter culture and are extremely experienced. Austral Monsoon sees the IDE employee base as being a strong asset to leverage on for future growth in the UK market.
Dover Vanguard Office - UK Division After some intense negotiation Dover Vanguard clenches the deal to manufacture and deliver 45 x Nylo-30 Roller shutters to a manufacturer in Russia. The Nyloy-30, due to its high quality and ingenius design is truly a world class product as it is manufactured in both the UK Plant of Dover Vanguard as well as the US Plant in Ohio and is delivered to virtually all parts of the world.
Austral Monsoon Industries - Yennora After a successful number of years manufacturing its Bi-Fold / Fold-Up doors in its Victorian plant, Austral Monsoon Industries is very excited to announce it has started to manufacture these large doors in their Sydney plant as well. The Bi-Fold / Fold–Up doors span from 3 Metres to 8 Metres in height and go from 3 Metres to 30 Metres in width and made in single, 2 or 3 leaf configurations. The doors are generally electrically operated, but options for chain operations are available if required. The cladding of these doors is only limited by ones imagination and is well suited for large building openings.

In conjunctin with the builders, Leighton Contractors, Austral Monsoon successfully completes the installation of the rollers shutters at the new Pier C at Sydney Airport.
AMI GROUP WINS ALDI TENDER After months of negotiation with the head contractor Vaughan Constructions Pty Ltd, the Austral Monsoon Group have been awarded the contract to manufacture and install the Roller Shutters at the new Aldi Distribution Facility in Prestons, NSW and Dandenong, VIC.
Mr Paul Zelasko, a company Director of the Austral Monsoon Group, commented that Vaughan Constructions Pty Ltd awarded the contract to the Austral Monsoon Group to supply the 225 Roller Shutters due to our ability to deliver both on quality and time on such large projects where it is not only important to be able to manufacture the shutters but to also be able to deliver and install on time.
Mr. Zelasko also added that these types of projects are well within the groups modern manufacturing facilities throughout Australia which also assist in the negotiation process.
AMI Completes Roller Shutter installation at Castlehill
Austral Monsoon have now completed their portion of the project by installing the 50 Roller Shutters for a light industrial development, 'Catalyst', in Sydney's North West at Castle Hill.
The project was designed and developed by Broad Contructions with Monsoon manufacturing and installing the Roller Shutter portion of the project. The prominent commercial precinct now features 51 mixed use units offering 16,000m2 of lettable area including 5000m2 of A Grade office space over 3 levels and 2.3 hectares. AMI is proud to have manufactured and installed the doors on time and on budget.
